Owensboro Medical Health System Partners with Carefx to Provide Clinicians with Unified Views of Patient Information

Fusion from Carefx will give members of the OMHS patient care community rapid access to multidisciplinary views of patient information

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Dec. 16, 2008 — Carefx Corporation today announced that Owensboro Medical Health System (OMHS) in Kentucky has selected Fusion from Carefx to help fulfill its vision of improving healthcare quality and safety for more than 300,000 people across 11 counties in western Kentucky and southern Indiana.

OMHS will leverage the Fusion platform to connect the disparate information systems across its enterprise – including a 447-bed hospital, urgent care center, and outpatient radiology and wellness centers – and deliver unified views of patient information to physicians within its regional medical community.

Carefx will support OMHS in its mission of advancing patient care in the Owensboro area. Fusion from Carefx will provide OMHS with the agility and flexibility needed to respond to new and emerging physician and community needs, while also offering a strong foundation for upcoming quality of care initiatives such as bedside medication administration.

“Carefx's scalable and service-oriented workflow platform will help OMHS improve patient care by managing the transitions and informational gaps that currently exist across their enterprise,” said Andrew Hurd, Chairman and CEO of Carefx. “We are thrilled to provide OMHS with a foundation on which to deliver its vision for improving patient care across the community.”

Working with Fusion, clinicians throughout OMHS’ regional medical community will be able to access patient data from previously disconnected systems. Those systems handle tasks such as registration and scheduling, ordering, examinations, dictation and transcription, clinical documentation, picture archiving communication systems (PACS), coding, charges and billing. Physicians will benefit from a seamless, intuitive user experience that features a unified, portal-based view of a patient’s medical information.

Fusion also will streamline and improve clinical and business processes by providing user-centric workflow, as defined by the OMHS medical community. By expediting the process of accessing patient information, Fusion will help OMHS physicians advance the speed and accuracy of diagnosis and treatment while enhancing the quality of patient care.
